境界のRINNE ep 45
Kyoukai no RINNE 45
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
Rokumon and Rinne find an oden stand as they come home, so Rokumon scores a free feed by looking like a hungry kitten. The next day, Ageha comes by with a nabe pot and oden ingredients. Rokumon and Rinne are pleased with Ageha, who throws Rokumon out. He returns with Sakura and Tsubasa, where they discover a mini samurai spirit in the broth. Tsubasa thinks this is a Nabe Bugyou, who’s job it is to make nabe (and thus oden) great. However, when the spirit starts eating the daikon radishes and boiled eggs, it becomes clear this is just an evil spirit of a magistrate. Renge comes by and joins in the eating.
Masato has the Akuma A-Type Flu and his doctor tells him to infect as many humans and other creatures as possible to get better. Masato decides to target Rinne, but Rinne won’t let him in. When Sakura and Tsubasa arrive, Rinne grabs Misato and brings him into his room, but bars Sakura and Tsubasa from entering as he has Shinigami B-Type Flu. Rokumon arrives outside with Rinne’s medicine while Masato makes Rinne worse. When Sakura opens the door to bring Rinne the medicine, Masato tries to infect her, but gets Tsubasa instead. Rinne sneezes, nearly killing Masato in the process due to the beast within. Eventually Masato retreats, having recovered from his flu, but having picked up Rinne’s flu as a result.
Thoughts/Review:
Kyoukai no RINNE 45 is another one of those two stories for the price of one episode events.
For the first story, the main thing about it is that it made me hungry for oden. Man, anime these days has me hungry as all get out, and I’m TRYING to eat less. 😛
Leave it to anime to teach me some weird thing about Japanese culture. This time it was Nabe Bugyou. The anime is right in that this used to be an official position. In modern Japan, it is just a busybody who imposes their view on how nabe should be done on others, or so it seems to me.
Still, it is funny seeing how pleased Rinne is with Ageha’s actions and how much he loved the oden she made.
For the second story, I was amused by this take on getting the flu. Masato’s flu having the little devil critters making one’s symptoms worse is something I’m sure I’ll think about if I get the flu again.
It was weird seeing Rinne getting beat by Masato. However, when Rinne’s sneezes causes a bone creature to emerge and nearly kill Masato, I laughed out loud.
Beyond that, not a lot to say. 😛
In the end, Kyoukai no RINNE 45 is a fun episode covering two stories.
Even with the always present and constant explanation by the narrator, these kind of situations are what remind me that Rinne IS a shinigami. Otherwise, he could just pass a human working as one.
Well, he’s part shinigami. His grandfather was human. 🙂
